Co-operative Housing Co-ordinators of Hamilton Niagara Association (CHCHNA) is a co-operative whose members are individuals who work as housing co-op staff.
CHCHNA has its own by-laws and its own Board of Directors. Our members work primarily in Golden Horseshoe Region (Hamilton, Niagara, Burlington). We also welcome housing co-op managers from the Halton/Peel area.
The purpose of our Association is to:
- Provide a forum in which Co-operative Housing Co-ordinators in the Hamilton-Niagara area may discuss their work in confidence.
- Provide education for its members through information exchange, guest speakers and attendance at workshops, seminars and courses.
- Foster a spirit of camaraderie among co-op housing managers through meetings and other shared activities.
- Membership in our Association is open to any individual who is employed as a housing co-op manager (administrator/co-ordinator) in the Hamilton, Niagara and Halton/Peel area.
- Meetings are held every two months
- Each member shall be subject to annual membership fees as the members may from time to time decide.
- CHCHNA is a member of CHF Canada. We also work with other co-op staff organizations to ensure that staff’s voice is heard in the co-op sector.
- CHCHNA members are serving or have served in many key positions in the co-op sector.
- We are represented by our delegate at the CHF Canada annual staff conferences.
- There is also representation with all other staff associations across Ontario.
- CHCHNA representatives also participate in conference call and face-to-face meetings with other staff associations.
- The annual Staff Education Forum is organized in co-operation with the Co-ordinators`Association of Southwestern Ontario (CASO), Co-operative Staff Association of Central Ontario (CSACO) and CHCHNA. It is normally held at the Elm Hurst Inn in Ingersoll. This annual event is an incredible networking and learning opportunity at an affordable cost.
